I'm lacking so much sleep, it's crazy. D:

Drama aside, I'm thinking of upgrading my camera (finally). Some friends of mine who are not into photography at all have better cameras than me, and it's fine, really... if only my 350D was still in pristine condition. Letting go is proving to be both painful and exciting. *o*
I bought my 350D back in 2005 and 3 years later, thankfully, it's still alive. However, it has so many battle scars now because of different factors such as age, over-usage, weather, and whatnot. I can see it falling apart in the next few months. It has served me well and the thought of having to replace it soon pains me so, since it was my first dSLR ever. Now, even if I love it to bits, I'm considering getting a Canon 40D (Please don't comment with anything like OMG YOU'RE SO RICH because if you think about it, it has been 3 years since I last purchased a camera, and my lenses are all non-L). I also feel like I need to get real serious with photography soon, and most of my professional photographer friends recommend that I get a new camera. I wouldn't need another kit lens (even with the IS) so I'm just eying the body. The package would be much cheaper that way too! *dies*
Who here owns a 40D? How is it? Is adjusting from an entry-level camera to a prosumer one difficult? :]
Thanks!

P.P.S. About the issue regarding the stolen picture, I really want it to be over soon. I still have school to think about! ._. It is difficult for them and it also difficult for us. Things aren't fun for a 19-year-old these days...

Let's make happy memories this time, ok?...
40D is not bad.. almost no noise at high ISO 1600, nice big LCD. Price had also dropped since it's initial launch. Definitely a lot of improvement since 350D.

(Yes, I know the differences between the two camera's).
For me, I always choosed for "travel light". So the beginner camera's of Canon attracts me more then the semi-professional models.
But then again, I do miss things on the beginner which ARE on the semi-pro models.
E.g.: LCD Display on top of the camera (with backlight!), and some other buttons.
What I DON'T miss is: Automatic sensor cleaning (I can clean it myself -_-), life view (not yet anyway), the weight....
What I DO like is: Bigger viewer, LCD on top with back lights and the status this camera gives you
Now you decide if it's worth the money.
O, one final note: In Raw mode the 40D does take better (more colorful) pictures. But your monitor can't show it anyway
Good luck deciding
