...of crying. :tears:

I went to Smokey Mountain with ~dae-mon1 today. It's a semi-isolated place in Tondo, Manila where garbage is dumped daily by thousands of trucks. About 25,000-30,000 people live there and even though some houses are far from the mountains of trash, an unpleasant smell and a misty smog lingers around the whole place.

We met some kids around the area who were giddy to have their pictures taken. Most of them were barefoot and were climbing the garbage heaps, like stepping on and touching garbage was a normal thing. They also seemed to be immune to the smell already.

I heard their situation was even worse a few years back. Now, proper housing and recycling facilities already surround the area, fortunately. Glad to know the government's doing something about it. (!)

There were two particular little boys who caught my attention. This boy is one of them (the other one was his best pal). When I asked him if I could take his picture, he didn't refuse. However, he had this expression on his face as if he was about to cry. After talking to him for a while, he started to warm up to us (I assume) and laugh and smile with the other kids in the area. Maybe I'll post a picture of him smiling next time. :]

This photo makes me feel like I feel it's presented: gritty.

100% amazing work.

This shot conveys so much emotion. I got to visit a livelihood years ago back when they started getting proper housing. How I wish I'd brought my camera to capture and share what they go through on a daily basis.

most of your work is good, but this one in particular caught my eye. Truly powerful piece of photography This is a moment in time that says so many messages I'm not even gonna start the list. Absolutely beautiful piece of work yet very humbling. Got to add this to the fav's even though it's not the most uplifting photo, it's show the many levels of existence that surrounds us yet is overlooked some how.
